The Drums - The New World

Os The Drums estão de volta com nova música, The New World, que será o seu novo single a ser lançado a 18 de Abril. Que irá reverter a favor das vítimas do tsunami que atingiu o Japão.

É sempre bom saber que ainda existem bandas que não nos desiludem com as novas músicas que vão criando, e os The Drums conseguiram voltar a trazer o que tanto agradou aos fãs do seu álbum de lançamento, um música leve, alegre, que nos faz pensar que o Verão começa já amanhã e que estamos a caminho da praia. Parece que vem mesmo a calhar com estes dias!

The Drums are back with a new song, The New World, that will be released on April 18. And its proceeds will benefit the victims of the Japan earthquake and tsunami.
It's always nice to know that some bands doesn't disappoint us with their new songs, and The Drums come back with the same thing that pleased their fans on the 1st album, light music, happy, that make us thought that the Summer start tomorow and that we are on our way to the beach!

Death Cab For Cutie - You Are A Tourist

You Are A Tourist é o primeiro avanço para Codes And Keys, o sétimo álbum dos Death Cab For Cutie. O vídeo foi gravado ontem, enquanto estava a ser transmitido em directo para todo o mundo através de um site criado propositadamente para o efeito.

Codes And Keys será lançado a 31 de Maio deste ano.

You Are a Tourist is the 1st single for Codes And Keys, the 7th album of Death Cab For Cutie. The video for the single was recorded yesterday, while was happening a live transmission worldwide through a special website created for the event.
Codes And Keys will be released on May 31.

The Weeknd

Venho apresentar a mais recente explosão musical das últimas semanas - The Weeknd. Um projecto (?) de R&B, aparentemente vindo de Toronto e segundo o que fui lendo, feito para a massa indie e não para os fãs de R&B. Consta que fazem efectivamente música R&B mas não seguem os padrões típicos, as letras das músicas são mais pesadas, usam samples de bandas indie e indie rock, não tem o típico vozeirão limpo tão característico dos senhores e senhoras do R&B. Reinvenção do R&B mas para outro público-alvo.

Estranho? Mais ou menos. Veja-se o exemplo de James Blake, é uma das revelações do ano passado entre quem? A massa indie. Mas o caso dos The Weeknd é bem mais curioso, tudo começou com a rapidez que se espalhou o primeiro single que começou a assombrar os sites e blogs, What You Need, batida lenta, arrastada, letra melosa. Curiosamente a despertar a atenção a muita gente que não ouvia este tipo de música, mas sem se perceber muito bem porquê. Nos dias que se seguiram foram aparecendo mais músicas pelo YouTube e o vídeo de What You Need no Vimeo.



Outro pequeno grande pormenor que levou aos ouvidos indie The Weeknd, foi a utilização de samples altamente reconhecíveis dos Beach House com a música Gila utilizada em Loft Music e Master of None em The Party & The After Party e também da utilização de Happy House dos Siouxsie And The Banshees em House Of Balloons. Pois, parece que só aqui levou a que muita gente não muito habituada a R&B a descobrisse numa nova abordagem.













Depois de toda esta lavagem acerca dos The Weeknd, fiquem a saber que algo mais que ainda os está a lançar ainda mais, é o facto de até à data ser um projecto que se esconde ainda no anonimato e ainda não tem nenhum álbum, nem editora, apenas disponibilizou gratuitamente uma mixtape na sua página oficial intitulada House Of Balloons.

Glass Table Girls é a segunda música a ter direito a videoclip. Cuidado com The Weeknd. É viciante.

Metronomy - The Look

E já temos o segundo avanço revelado para o novo álbum dos Metronomy, English Riviera, a ser lançado a 11 de Abril. The Look continua com as contagiantes batidas características da banda inglesa, que nos deixam com vontade de seguir imediatamente para uma festa algures! Bem que podiam voltar a Portugal outra vez este Verão.

Os Flashguns vêm de Londres e vão lançar o seu álbum de estreia ainda este Verão, embora já andem na estrada à dois com os Bombay Bicycle Club. Passions Of A Different Kind é o single de apresentação.

Flashguns come from London and will release their debut album this Summer, although they are on the road for two years supporting Bombay Bicycle Club. Passions Of A Different Kind is the 1st single to present their LP.

Friendly Fires - Live Those Days Tonight

Depois do fantástico álbum de estreia de 2008, os Friendly Fires estão de volta com o novo álbum Pala a ser lançado a 16 de Maio pela XL Recordings.

Live Those Days Tonight é o single de apresentação que vai estrear pela primeira vez amanhã (23 de Março) no Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.

Os Friendly Fires estão presentes dia 9 de Julho no Palco Super Bock do Optimus Alive!11.

After the amazing debut album from 2008, Friendly Fires are back with the new record Pala, that will be released on May 16th by XL Recordings.
Live Those Days Tonight is the first single taken from the album, that will premiere on 23 March 2011 with a live performance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.
